Chelsea are set to land highly rated Augsburg left-back Baba Rahman, after a £17.5 million bid for the defender.
The West London club are in the market to find a replacement for Filipe Luis, who returned to former club Atletico Madrid after a solitary season in West London.
Ghana international Rahman was a star performer in an over-achieving Augsburg side in the Bundesliga last season and delighted German crowds with his ability to get forward.
The star has been linked with Arsenal, Manchester City and Roma also, but the Blues are set to win the race for his signature.
The full-back’s representative has confirmed that a deal to bring him to Stamford Bridge is close.
“Both clubs are still working on fine-tuning but we hope the agreement will be finalised soon,” Rahman’s agent, Sascha Empacher, told The Guardian.
Cesar Azpilicueta is the first-choice for Jose Mourinho’s men at left-back, but the club have few other options in this position.
Rahman will bring excitement and purpose to the Chelsea squad, but is likely to face prolonged periods as a back-up option.
