Chelsea are set to make a move for Bayern Munich star Arturo Vidal when Antonio Conte arrives as the new Blues manager this summer, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Vidal only joined Bayern from Juventus in last summer’s transfer window, but the Bundesliga giants are prepared to receive an offer in the region of £30million for the 28-year-old midfielder at the end of the season.
The Chile international has previously hinted that he is keen on working for Conte once again, with the Italian being the man that signed him from Bayer Leverkusen back in 2011 before enjoying three successful years at the Juventus Stadium.
Conte said of Vidal: “If I ever go to war I’d take Vidal with me.”
While in a separate interview, Vidal replied: “I have also said if I go to war I would take Conte with me. We will see what happens.”
And even if there are three years remaining on his current contract, the incoming Chelsea boss has placed Vidal high on his transfer list as he aims to rebuild the struggling Premier League champions next season.
Along with a central midfielder, Conte is also eyeing a centre-back, with club captain John Terry set to depart when his contract expires this summer.
