Chelsea manager-in-waiting Antonio Conte is set to make a shock move for Southampton striker Graziano Pelle, according to The Sun.
The Italian trainer will arrive at Stamford Bridge after the Euro 2016 tournament and is expected to sign a host of new players to have the Blues back in contention for silverware next term.
Conte is said to rate Pelle from their mutual time with the Italian national side, with the Saints’ centre forward set to represent his country in France this summer.
The repot suggests that the lofty frontman would relish the opportunity to link up with his compatriot in West London and the St Mary’s club would not stand in his way.
Pelle has been inconsistent since signing for the south coast club, with purple patches in front of goal counteracted by long periods of time without hitting the back of the net.
Whether the veteran forward would replace or complement existing Chelsea striker Diego Costa remains to be seen.
