Chelsea to make world-record bid for Man United target

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has told the West London club’s power brokers to sanction a world-record transfer bid for Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann next summer, according to The Express.

The France international is regarded as one of the finest attackers in the European game and has been heavily linked with a switch to Manchester United next year in the press of late.

Reports suggest that Jose Mourinho is eyeing up Griezmann as his next high-profile addition at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils keeping a close eye on the Atletico star.

However, the latest news suggests that Conte is also a major suitor of the former Real Sociedad schemer and is willing to set a new world transfer record to ensure that the versatile forward ends up at Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

Griezmann netted twice in Atletico’s 4-0 win over Celta Vigo over the weekend and is a critical player for Diego Simeone’s men.
