Chelsea are ready to sell three star players to fund a £70million move for Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports from the Mirror.
According to Spanish publication AS, Blues owner Roman Abramovich is looking to turn around Chelsea’s recent slump by bringing Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge using his close relationship with Spanish super-agent Jorge Mendes to aid the transfer.
And to do so, Abramovich is prepared to spend over €100million (£70million) to secure his services, which would break the current world-record transfer fee for a player.
However, there will be some big changes made to the squad in order to facilitate the move, with Eden Hazard, Nemanja Matic, and Oscar set to be sold to increase funds.
The news will also be alerting Real, who are keen on bringing Hazard to the Santiago Bernabeu amid the Belgium international’s struggles this season.
Ronaldo, 30, is Los Blancos’ all-time record goalscorer, with 326 goals in just 315 games since his transfer from Manchester United back in 2009.
