Chelsea have been warned off making an approach for Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij, with Lazio putting a £50 million price tag on the enforcer’s head, according to The Mirror.
Antonio Conte made no bones about the fact that he wanted an additional centre-half this summer and a host of different names were linked with the West London club.
In the end, former player David Luiz rejoined the Premier League club in a £32 million deal to offer an extra option at the heart of the Blues’ rearguard.
However, the latest report suggests that Conte’s defensive reinforcements are not yet complete and that the West London club could look to move for De Vrij in the January window.
That said, Lazio seem intent on keeping the Netherlands international in the Italian capital and the Premier League side will have to splash out an extortionate fee if they are to land the former Feyenoord man.
