Chelsea are thought to have made a second bid for Marseille right-back Cesar Azpilicueta, The Sun report.
The Stamford Bridge club are undergoing a renovation of their ageing squad this summer, and have already added a raft of exciting new players.
However, with Jose Bosingwa leaving west London after his contract expired the Blues are eager to bring on board a new full-back, with Paulo Ferreira the only recognised right-back in Roberto Di Matteo’s squad.
The Ligue 1 side have already turned down an offer of £5 million for the Spanish defender, and want £8 million for their player.
However, Marseille president Vincent Labrune has revealed that the Blues have been back with a more substantial bid.
“Chelsea have made a serious approach for Cesar,” he confessed.
