Chelsea warned off transfer move

John Ruddy (Norwich)Norwich boss Chris Hughton has insisted that John Ruddy is not for sale, despite rumoured interest from Chelsea.

The 26-year-old spent most of last season out injured, but is still thought to be on new Blues chief Jose Mourinho’s transfer wish list as he searches for adequate cover for Petr Cech.

Some have speculated that a £5m offer could be enough to lure the one-time England international away from Carrow Road, and that Chelsea have already made an approach.

But, Hughton says that his number one is not leaving and is still a vital member of his first-team squad:

“We see very much John’s future here and we look forward to him being here,” he is quoted by Sky Sports.

“John would be no different to any player we have here. Any interest in any of our players is just a mark and a testament to how well those individuals have done.

“We start back training on Thursday. John is very much part of our plans and will be here. Then we go away to Austria next week and of course John is very much part of that.

“Any interest shown in any of our players is just a mark of how well they have done.”

Norwich themselves have been active in transfer market this summer, having secured a deal for Dutch striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

The former Liverpool and Tottenham target has sealed an £8.5m move to East Anglia, and is seen by Hughton as the ideal man to address the Canaries’ attacking issues.

Does John Ruddy owe himself a big move? Or would he better off staying at Norwich?
