For those Chelsea fans who thought the Premier League title race was already a forgone conclusion, this week has dispelled any thoughts of an early coronation. The Blues were at best lacklustre against a resurgent Liverpool, and only just managed to scrape a victory against local rivals Fulham. With all of this behind them, they face a tricky home fixture against an erratic Sunderland on Sunday.
The week has ended in controversy for the Blues, as highly respected assistant coach, Ray Wilkins, left the club under mysterious circumstances, and Vice-captain Frank Lampard was struck down by another injury blow- setting the influential midfielder on the sidelines for another few weeks.
Blogs from the Bridge this week have focused on Ray Wilkins’ departure- were the club right to let him go? Chelsea’s long-term stadium plans are also examined in the wake of Arsenal and Manchester City’s moves to new grounds in recent seasons.
We finish off with a summary of the best of the web’s Chelsea titbits.
