Chris Hughton keen to finish on a high

Manager Chris Hughton has called on Norwich City to finish the season well following the 2-1 win over Reading.

The Canaries snapped a six-game winless streak with their win over the doomed Royals last time out to move seven points clear of danger.

Despite the fact that Norwich appear to be safe, Hughton is keen to finish the campaign strongly with a top-half finish still possible for the Carrow Road side.

“I hope we can have a decent end to the season,” he told the Eastern Daily Press. “Apart from very early on, we’ve not been in the bottom three. I think that indicates that overall it’s been a fairly decent season. We now have to make sure we finish it well.”

Hughton admits Norwich have struggled in front of goal on occasion this season, with the Canaries managing just 33 goals in 34 Premier League games to date, but his options will be boosted next season as the club have already agreed a deal to sign Sporting Lisbon forward Ricky van Wolfswinkel in the summer.

He added: “It’s such a tough league and we’ve found it hard to score the goals we’ve wanted and it is trying to make sure you get that right formula and that has proved difficult because of the quality of the teams you’re up against.”
