Roberto Mancini has admitted that Manchester City are interested in signing Lille’s highly rated playmaker Eden Hazard, as a scramble for the attacking midfielder’s services in the summer is set to ensue.
The Belgium international has been the standout performer in French domestic football for quite some time now, and excellent performances last term inspired Rudy Garcia’s men to the Ligue 1 championship title.
The superstar looks set to leave the French club in the summer, and Mancini has expressed his interest in bringing him to the Etihad Stadium.
“Hazard has an enormous level of talent and is able to play at the maximum level. But we know there is interest from the big European clubs and any deal will not be easy,” Mirror Football quote the Italian coach as stating to French newspaper Le 10 Sport.
Meanwhile Chelsea are also thought to be keen to add the Belgian star to their ranks, with scout Guy Hillion holding Hazard in high regard.
“I was at the Lille-St Etienne match and the player has interested Chelsea since Frank Arnesen was at the club,” Hillion admitted.
“Personally, my reports have been excellent and I do think he can succeed in the Premier League.”
Real Madrid and Inter, amongst others, are known suitors of Hazard, with Lille valuing the player at £30 million+.
