Manchester City have joined Manchester United and Arsenal in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels, Express reports.
The Sky Blues have reportedly mooted their interest in the Germany international after club captain Vincent Kompany suffered a hamstring strain in their 1-0 win over Leicester City on Saturday.
Hummels has endured a terrible season with current club Dortmund, with the Bundesliga side battling at the bottom of the table.
With City defender Matija Nastasic also expected to make a switch to Inter Milan, the Premier League champions could make a £47million offer to bring Hummels to the Etihad this January.
This will come as a big blow for Manchester United, who has been heavily linked with the 25-year-old since his World Cup winning performances during the summer.
Arsenal are also monitoring Hummels’ availability, with manager Arsene Wenger keen to bring the former Bayern Munich youth star to join national compatriots Lukas Podolski, Mesut Ozil, and Per Mertesacker at the Emirates.
