City out to hijack Tottenham’s transfer pursuit

Manchester City are ready to enter the race to sign highly-rated Tottenham target Leandro Damiao, according to The Daily Mail.

The north London club are eager to sign a new striker this summer, and have been frustrated in their attempts to sign Emmanuel Adebayor on a permanent basis from the Etihad Stadium side.

Andre Villas-Boas is thought to have turned his attention to Damiao, as the White Hart Lane side have an affiliation with his club Internacional, where they signed Sandro from.

However, City are also thought to be monitoring Damiao’s progress and feel he could be a good addition to Roberto Mancini’s squad if the fringe players such as Adebayor, Roque Santa Cruz and Edin Dzeko leave this summer.
