Shakhat Donetsk have confirmed that star attacking midfielder Alex Teixeira will join Chinese club Jiangsu Suning for £38million, according to reports from Sky Sports.
Teixeira has been heavily linked with a move away from the Ukrainian top flight during the January window, with Chelsea and Liverpool both interested in the Brazilian.
However, both the Blues and the Reds were reluctant to pay Shakhtar’s high asking price, which saw Teixeira remain at the Donbass Arena after the English transfer deadline.
It was expected that the Premier League duo will make another attempt in the summer, but that option is now off the table following the confirmation that the 26-year-old will ply his trade in the Chinese Super League which starts in March.
The signing of Teixeira will see the second big-name Brazilian star to arrive at the club, with Ramires completing a £25million switch from Chelsea last month.
Teixeira made 26 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring 26 goals.
