New Liverpool signing Joe Cole believes the team must improve if they are to land an opening day Premier League win when Arsenal visit Anfield a week on Sunday.
Cole impressed on his Liverpool debut on Thursday evening as they grabbed a 2-0 success over Macedonian outfit Rabotniki 2-0 in a Europa League qualifier to secure a 4-0 aggregate victory.
But the former West Ham United and Chelsea man wants to see a vast improvement ahead of the tough Gunners test.
"We've had two (competitive) games now and we've got Fernando Torres, Dirk Kuyt, Pepe Reina and the others to come back," he said.
"We've got a lot to work on and there is a lot for us to do. We've got to come together and continue to improve.
"We have to keep working hard every day on the training pitch and go from there. We know we've got a long way to go.
"You can't assess anything on the first six games of the season, you have to judge us in May."
