CONCACAF Champions League: Monterrey 2 Real Salt Lake 2

Real Salt Lake have grabbed a late draw and two vital away goals in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League final against Monterrey.The Major League Soccer outfit beat Costa Rican outfit Deportivo Saprissa in the semi-final to become the first US club to feature in the final since 2000, and will have the upper hand in the return leg at home in Utah after an impressive performance in Mexico.

They started badly at the Estadio Tecnologico, with Monterrey number nine Aldo de Nigris scoring the opener after 18 minutes.

Nat Borchers ensured Real were level at half time with a goal on 35 minutes, but Humberto Suazo restored the Mexicans’ lead in the 63rd from the penalty spot.

However, Javier Morales bobbed up to score a vital goal in the last minute of regular time to lock the scores at 2-2 and put Real in the box seat ahead of the return leg on April 27.
