Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has stated that his side must keep their concentration and work harder to get back on track after a debilitating 3-0 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.
The London heavyweights locked horns at the Emirates Stadium in an eagerly anticipated Premier League clash, but goals from Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil gave the hosts a commanding victory.
For the Blues, it makes it three games without a win and nullifies the West London club’s strong start to the new campaign, with some soul searching to be done if they are to challenge for a top-four finish this season.
Conte reverted to three central defenders in the second-half of the clash, which could well be a ploy that the former Juventus trainer uses going forward, especially once John Terry is back to availability.
The Italian coach has urged his players to take a look at themselves and come back stronger following the poor performance and result against Arsenal.
“We started this game in a bad way, and from the first minute,” Conte told the club’s official website.
“Arsenal went ahead on 11 minutes and scored all their goals before half-time.
“This is very strange because Arsenal against Chelsea is a massive game and when we play this type of game against a very good team like Arsenal, you must stay concentrated from the first minute and this today did not happen.
“I was a footballer and it happens that in one game you don’t have a good performance for many reasons, but I hope to improve this situation. We’ve had defeat in two big games.
“For this reason we must be humble and understand the moment and that we need to work a lot to improve and change our story.”
