New Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has identified hotshot forward Gonzalo Higuain as his major transfer target and will look to splash a whopping £80 million on the Napoli star this summer, according to The Daily Star.
The West London club have fallen from grace this season and as such are expected to revamp their playing squad this summer upon the Italian trainer’s arrival.
Question marks remain over Diego Costa’s future at Stamford Bridge, with the Spain international reportedly set for a move back to La Liga.
This would mean that the outgoing Premier League champions will need a new number nine, with Higuain potentially that man.
The Argentina international has been in scintillating form for Napoli this season and tops the Serie A goalscoring charts with an excellent 30 goals in 31 games.
Conte is expected to sign a number of players from Italian football, while Higuain’s signing would be a real statement of intent.
