Under-fire Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic is determined to win a new contract at the club, The Mirror report.
The Serbian veteran started the new campaign in shocking form, with the usually assured enforcer a weak link at right-back for the Blues.
Such was Ivanovic’s demise that talk that the Premier League champions would offload him in January was rife in the media.
However, with the experienced defender’s performances improving in recent weeks, the latest report suggests that the eastern European star wants a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
Ivanovic is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and will be 32 by the time that next season starts.
Chelsea have a policy of not offering contracts longer than a solitary year to players aged over 30 and as such it remains to be seen whether the long-serving stalwart will be given a chance to continue his tenure in West London.
