Crystal Palace favourites to sign English winger

Crystal Palace have become favourites to sign Ashley Young this summer, reports the Daily Star.

The Manchester United winger has been linked with a move to London, with Betstars dropping their odds of Young joining the Eagles to 9/5.

This all comes after reports suggested Yannick Bolasie was on the verge of joining Everton, and despite Alan Pardew already signing Andros Townsend earlier in the window, Palace have been linked with finding a replacement for Bolasie.

A Betstars spokesman said: “In the last 24 hours, Crystal Palace have emerged as the frontrunners to sign the winger at 9/5 and with Jose spoilt for choice in attacking positions, this is definitely a transfer to keep your eye on.”

The 31-year-old has been at Old Trafford since an £18m move from Aston Villa in 2011, but always struggled to earn a regular starting place. Last season, he only played in 18 Premier League games, although a huge chunk of those fixtures saw him deployed as a wing-back.

Young has scored 11 Premier League goals for United in total over 5 seasons, but many are expecting him to be sold by Jose Mourinho this month.
