Crystal Palace want to make Steven Caulker their first summer signing and have made a £6.5 million offer for the Queens Park Rangers’ defender according to The Guardian.
The Tottenham Hotspur youth product is a former England international and was being touted as having a bright career in the Premier League after breaking through at White Hart Lane.
However, Caulker has become something of a journeyman in recent years, spending time on loan at Liverpool and Southampton while QPR toil away in The Championship.
The no-nonsense centre-half looks set to leave Loftus Road permanently this summer, with Palace keen to move quickly to land the defender.
Alan Pardew’s men have Scott Dann and Damien Delaney at the heart of their rearguard currently, but would surely welcome someone of Caulker’s considerable calibre in their squad ahead of next season.
QPR look powerless to resist the approach and will surely be happy to cash in on the defender.
