Darko Milanic tipped to become new Leeds boss

Leeds United are poised to appoint Sturm Graz boss Darko Milanic as their new manager, according to BBC Sport.

The Championship giants have been on the hunt for a new boss since sacking David Hockaday last month, and currently occupy 14th place in the table, with Neil Redfearn as caretaker boss.

The 46-year-old former Yugoslavia and Slovenia international is expected to move to Elland Road once he resolves a severance package with the Austrian club.

He is set to become the second manager recruited by controversial owner Massimo Cellino – who fired 36 managers during a 22 year spell in charge of Italian side Cagliari.

His previous appointment of Hockaday was met with trepidation, as his only previous managerial experience had been with non-league Forest Green.

Hockaday lasted just six games before being shown the door at Elland Road .

Mailanic is a well respected coach in Slovenia, having won four Slovenian championships between 2008 and 2013, during his time coaching Maribor.
