Davies earns all the plaudits

Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle heaped praise on captain Kevin Davies in the wake of Saturday’s 2-1 Premier League victory at West Ham United.

Davies planted a header beyond goalkeeper Robert Green and played a part in Jack Wilshere’s effort soon after to put the Trotters in a commanding position.

Although Tamir Cohen picked up a second yellow card and Alessandro Diamanti reduced the deficit, Bolton held on to win their first away game in the league since September.

Coyle was delighted with his skipper’s contribution and believes his side could have won by a greater margin.

“I’ve said before I’ve got so much belief in Kevin Davies and he has as well and he’s got so many attributes to his game,” he said.“I think sometimes people paint a certain picture of him but he’s more than that.

“He’s a real leader and that’s why he’s our captain and he’s an integral part of what I want to build at the football club and I felt his performance today epitomised the whole team.

“That’s what we need on a game-to-game basis. We came here to try and win the game and I’m delighted to have done it. If truth be told it was two but it could easily have been more than that.”
