Suarez’s former coach has defended his conduct away from the game, but admitted that he is prone to making stupid decisions.
“We know Luis is a winner and he does everything to win,” De Boer is reported to have said in Mirror Football.
“Sometimes he does some stupid things but I don’t know the details of what happened in that specific game, so I cannot comment.
“Outside of the pitch he is a fantastic person. For everything else, I cannot say.
“He does everything to win. I don’t think it was very smart that he didn’t shake the hand of Evra. It has put more attention on everything,” he admitted.
Ajax face Manchester United in the Europa League on Thursday, and De Boer has revealed that he asked former team-mate Edwin van der Sar for advice.
“I spoke to Van der Sar, yes. We discussed every player at Manchester United,” he concluded.
