Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed that he has offered Manchester United €1 million (£880,000) to face the Italian side in a pre-season friendly.
Following a third placed Serie A finish in 2010/11, the Naples club will participate in the Champions League next term and are looking to raise their profile by taking on the England’s top club.
“I have offered Manchester United €1m to come here and play a friendly against Napoli. I am awaiting a reply,” the executive stated in a press conference.
“My aim is to bring Napoli to be among the top teams, not just in Italy, but at international level. There is a lot of work to be done.”
United have pre-season commitments in the United States currently ahead of the Premier League kick-off on August 13th.
