Defender dreams of Canaries stay

Fenerbahce defender Joseph Yobo has admitted he would like to stay at Norwich City next season, reports Sky Sports.

The 33-year-old centre-back is currently on loan at Carrow Road until the end of the season, but has expressed a desire to stay at Chris Hughton’s club next summer: “I am taking one day at a time and am hopefully going to review the situation at the end of the season,” said the former Everton defender.

“You never know [about a permanent move] because everything in football is possible. I am happy at Norwich. It feels like home. The only thing missing is my family, otherwise I am settled. But I can’t make a decision because I am contracted to Fenerbahce in Turkey. The most important thing is Norwich staying up and pushing up the league and other things will follow after that.”

Yobo has made 7 appearances for the Canaries as he hopes to secure Premier League football at Carrow Road next season. Norwich are currently 14th, 7 points above the relegation zone. Hughton’s men face fellow strugglers Swansea City on the weekend, as they look to build from last Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Sunderland.

With only one year left on his Fenerbahce contract, Yobo is hoping to cut short his stay with the Turkish club, and sign a deal with Chris Hughton.
