Basel star Mohamed Elneny has landed in England with Arsenal hoping to complete his transfer this week, according to reports from the Metro.
Elneny has been heavily linked with a switch to the Emirates these past few weeks and it looked as if the Gunners sealed a £7.3million deal, but a delay in his work permit postponed an official announcement.
However, Guardian reporter Ed Aarons has revealed that the 23-year-old midfielder is currently in England to complete the move, which if done early could see Elneny available for Arsenal’s trip to Stoke City this weekend.
The Gunners have been plagued by injuries in their midfield and the signing of Elneny will be seen as a direct fill-in for Francis Coquelin, with the Frenchman set to miss at least another month of first team football.
They have been boosted by the return of Tomas Rosicky, but manager Arsene Wenger is expected to deploy Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini in the midfield double pivot against Liverpool on Wednesday.
