The agent of Lazio midfielder Modibo Diakite says his client is hoping for a summer switch to the Premier League.
The 26-year-old is out of contract in the summer and having already rejected a new contract, it looks highly unlikely that he will be staying in Rome.
Tottenham, Newcastle and Norwich have all been linked with a move for the midfielder and his agent Ulisse Savini says England would be his preferred option.
“The player is out of contract in June 2013 and we are evaluating several proposals from Italy and the rest of Europe, including the UK,” he said.
“The English league attracts us a lot and certainly if there is a real chance to evaluate, but no club has sent us concrete offers, so we are still waiting.”
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is said to be looking for a replacement for William Gallas, who is likely to leave the club this summer. Liverpool have also been linked to the French defender as a replacement for the retiring Jamie Carragher.
Diakite has been at Lazio since 2006, and will add height and seize to whichever club he ends up signing for. Napoli are just one of several foreign teams also interested in the defender.
