Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt has warned rivals that his side are only going to get better, and praised Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez.
The Anfield team have had an inconsistent start to the season, but the Netherlands international feels that improvement is on the way.
“The additions to the squad have made us much stronger,” he told Mirror Football.
“It is brilliant for the club that we now have so many top class internationals to choose from. But the return of Steven Gerrard will be important too.
“He is very important to this club, and can really lift us. I can assure you that when he is back to his best he will be as influential as ever, because you can see his determination in training,” he continued.
Kuyt was also full of admiration for team-mate Luis Suarez, who like himself has excelled after moving from the Eredivisie to the Premier League.
“What people seem to forget about Luis, is that it really is a very big step to come from Holland and the Eredivise there.
“It’s a huge step, and it’s really difficult to be a success straight away. The style of football is different, and the pace is different too.
“He has done brilliantly from the very beginning, and he has become a very important player for Liverpool. But it is my belief he will be even better in the future. He’s a great player already, but it still takes time to settle in, coming from Holland.
“He’s still young, so he has time on his side to get used to new team-mates, and to get used to the Premier League properly,” he concluded.
Liverpool have a stern test on Saturday, as they take on Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park.
