Andrea Dossena's unhappy 18-month spell at Liverpool has been ended following confirmation of a transfer back to Italy with Napoli.
The Italy full-back joined the Reds from Udinese in July 2008 but has now returned to Serie A after making just 18 first-team appearances.
The 28-year-old had featured just twice this season and has now joined Napoli on a four-year contract.
Meanwhile, Reds boss Rafael Benitez has confirmed that another fringe member of his squad is also likely to be on the move this month.
Ukraine striker Andriy Voronin is currently in talks with Dynamo Moscow after a similarly frustrating spell at Anfield.
"With Voronin we were talking with Dynamo Moscow and it's also very close," confirmed Benitez, who also admitted that a move for a potential replacement in Atletico Madrid's Argentina international Maxi Rodriguez was progressing.
"The player is talking with them and we're also just waiting for the paperwork.
"The weather conditions have made it impossible to progress with these things but I think it could be done within a few hours."
However, one player who is likely to remain at Anfield is Ryan Babel despite Benitez confirming that Birmingham City had tabled a bid for the Netherlands winger.
"We have received some offers but the player was clear the other day when he told me he wants to stay," added the Spaniard.
"We have to wait. I was not telling him he could go, just that we were receiving offers because he's a good player. That's the situation at this moment.
"At this moment everyone knows Ryan has the potential and he can improve."
