AC Milan have contacted Manchester City in regards to the availability of out-of-favour striker Edin Dzeko, according to Mirror Football.

The Rossoneri are in the market for a new forward to boost their attacking options for next term, as they look to regain their Serie A title from rivals Juventus.

Bosnia international Dzeko has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium, with Roberto Mancini preferring to use Mario Balotelli, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez instead of the eastern European target man.

Bayern Munich were initially thought to be the frontrunners to sign Dzeko, but have instead opted to bring in Croatia international forward Mario Mandzukic.

With City keen to start talks to try and bring Robin van Persie to Manchester, the Premier League winners are keen to part with some of their fringe players to balance the books.

It is stated that Milan may pay as much as £20 million for Dzeko's signature, as his time in England looks numbered.
