Arsenal are set to be without eight first team stars for their Champions League clash against Dinano Zagreb this Tuesday, according to reports from the Mirror.
The Gunners will need a victory against the Croatian side to have any chances of qualifying for the knock-out stages after losing three out of their four group fixtures, but know they have a tough task due to the high number of injuries.
Midfield duo Francis Coquelin and Mikel Arteta both limped off during their 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion during the weekend, adding to manager Arsene Wenger’s long injury list.
The loss of Coquelin is a big blow for the Gunners, with the Frenchman the only true defensive midfielder in the squad.
The 24-year-old left the Emirates on crutches and he is expected to be sidelined for an estimated three months.
Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere, and Tomas Rosicky are also on the treatment table, making it a total of eight players unavailable for the clash.
Wenger said: “It looks difficult, I believe, to have players come back Tuesday night.
“I can rotate a bit within the squad, but Ramsey will be short and Chamberlain will be short — and they are the two closest [to being fit].”
