Manchester United star Ashley Young is set to sign a new three-year deal with the club after impressing manager Louis van Gaal this season, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The 29-year-old was close to an exit after the club completed the signing of Angel Di Maria, but with the Argentina international struggling for form, the England man stepped up.
Young’s ability to play as a winger or even as a left back eventually led him to become Van Gaal’s first choice selection, with Di Maria being dropped to the bench.
He is now set to remain at Old Trafford and compete with new signing Memphis Depay in their upcoming campaign.
His form also tipped him for a place in the national team, but was unable to feature for Roy Hodgson in the two upcoming matches after picking up an injury.
Despite also picking up an knock midway throughout the season, the winger managed to register 23 league starts this term, scoring two goals and providing five assists.
