Fabian Delph has performing a stunning u-turn and penned a deal to join Manchester City, as per the club’s official website.
The England international has been in the Citizens’ sights for some time, with it emerging that the deal he penned in January with Aston Villa contained an £8 million release clause.
With reports of the former Leeds United star heading to Manchester emerging last weekend, Delph made a statement claiming that he had no intention of leaving Villa Park and was rejecting a switch to the Etihad Stadium.
However, in a decision that has bedazzled and enraged Villa fans, Delph has been unveiled as City’s new signing.
The star will join Raheem Sterling in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad and will hope that he does not follow in the footsteps of Jack Rodwell – who moved to City only to rarely play.
Pellegrini’s men have been on the search for English players due to their homegrown quota dropping with the exits of others.
