Esteban Granero wants to stay at QPR

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Esteban GraneroQPR midfielder Esteban Granero has rejected claims that he wants to leave the club.

The Spaniard arrived at Loftus Road just three months ago from Real Madrid, but has so far failed to settle in the Premier League.

This has led to speculation that he may be looking to quit the club in January and return to his homeland.

However, the 25-year-old told SkySports that the rumours are false and that he is happy in London:

“I assure every supporter – I want to be here.”

“I have heard some of that (speculation), but it’s not true.

“I like being here. I want to push the team to the place they deserve.”

QPR are yet to register a win this season and sit bottom of the league with just four points.

Granero went on to say that he will help the team battle to stay in the division:

“I came here to face challenges and I’m not the kind of footballer who runs away when things are not going very good.”

The attacking midfielder was the reported subject of interest from a host of clubs during the summer, but elected to join Mark Hughes’ squad, penning a four-year contract.

He began his career with Real Madrid before leaving to join fellow La Liga outfit Getafe in 2007.

After an impressive 2008/09 season he re-joined the Bernabeu club, but failed to cement a regular starting position under Jose Mourinho, eventually leaving to join QPR.
