Everton star Joel Robles has come out to state that he believes Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea will not leave the club, The Sun reports.
The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a switch to Real Madrid during the previous summer and is also being tipped to join them ahead of the new campaign.
A deal between United and the La Liga giants was close to being completed last year, but a deadline day mishap forced the negotiations to break down.
Robles, who played alongside De Gea at Atletico Madrid, admitted that his fellow countryman has made himself a key player at Old Trafford and also told him that he is happy in Manchester.
“For United, it is a difficult situation. Real Madrid are a top team. But for me David is happy in Manchester and has kept up the level of his performances,” he said.
“It’s important that he concentrates now for the rest of the season. After the summer I don’t know the situation but I know he is happy — he has told me this, of course.”
The Red Devils star managed to come away win a win against his former teammate yesterday after his side beat the Toffees 1-0 thanks to a goal from Anthony Martial.
Despite the Spain international penning a new contract with United, it is speculation that Real are still keen on luring the keeper to the Bernabeu.
