Everton will have cross-city rivals Liverpool as competition for highly rated Sevilla stopper Sergio Rico this summer, with The Express claiming that the pair are ready to go to blows to land the goalkeeper.
The Toffees are said to be in the market for a new custodian, with long serving stalwart Tim Howard getting older and a replacement one of Roberto Martinez’s priorities.
Rico has impressed for Sevilla this season, with the 22-year-old winning the starting berth at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and being a pair of safe hands for his side.
Martinez has a preference for players from La Liga given his nationality and had hoped to convince the young stopper to move to Goodison Park.
However, with Jurgen Klopp having reservations over the form of Simon Mignolet and looking to bolster his options this summer, Rico looks set to have a tough choice to make between the Merseyside rivals.
