Everton and Newcastle United target Jannik Vestergaard has played down speculation of an exit from Werder Bremen, according to reports from the Express.
The 23-year-old was said to be the subject of a potential £7million bid from the Premier League pair, but the defender revealed that he is unaware of any interest.
“I do not know anything about any interest in my services from clubs of England,” he said.
Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is still keen on reinforcing his squad this summer after hinting that he is looking to add at least three more players into his ranks.
His side have started the season rather well, drawing their opener against Watford 2-2 before picking up all three points against Southampton with a convincing 3-0 scoreline.
The Magpies however, are yet to register a win as they drew 2-2 with Southampton before falling to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Swansea City this past weekend.
Although both clubs are eyeing the services of Vestergaard, Bremen general manager Thomas Eichin told German media outlet Kreiszeitung Syke that he considers the centre-back to be a key member of his squad.
“We have not been receiving an offer for Jannik Vestergaard,” he said.
“Jannik is an important player in our first-team setup.”
