Everton and Stoke battle for superb defender

Everton and Stoke are both interested in signing Burnley centre-half Michael Keane before the start of next season, The Mirror report.

The former Manchester United defender left Old Trafford in 2015 and has been an essential member of Sean Dyche’s team as the Turf Moor outfit were promoted back to the Premier League this season.

Keane is a former England under-21 international and started 44 of Burnley’s 46 Championship games this season, spearheading the club’s push to win the league with excellent individual performances.

Dyche will be eager to keep the 23-year-old star with the newly promoted club as they look to establish themselves in the top flight but could face a tough task if big bids are made.

Both Stoke and Everton are expected to bolster their squads this summer and there is an argument to suggest that Keane would fit right into both of the Premier League sides’ starting XIs.
