Everton boost as hotshot defender denies deal already agreed

Everton have been handed a boost in their reported pursuit of Fenerbahce defender Caner Erkin, with the player’s agent denying claims that he had already signed for Inter Milan, as per The Express.

The 27-year-old is out of contract with the Turkish Super Lig club this summer and is yet to renew terms, with every likelihood that he is set to be available on a free transfer.

The Toffees are said to be keeping a close eye on the Turkey international but face a battle for his signature from clubs all over Europe.

Inter were believed to have already secured Erkin’s services on a pre-contract agreement, but this has now been denied.

The Goodison Park club will miss out on the top four this season and as such the playing squad is expected to be revamped in the summer, with new faces arriving.

Erkin would be a canny acquisition on a free transfer and is set to feature for Turkey at Euro 2016.
