Everton boss Roberto Martinez has dismissed speculation that Chelsea target John Stones will leave the club in the summer transfer window, Daily Star reports.
The 21-year-old was a top defensive target for the current Premier League champions and even made a transfer request to push his exit.
However, he was eventually convinced to remain at Goodison Park despite the Blues tabling three offers in their chase to sign the centre-back.
Martinez revealed that there is no agreement between him and Stones stating that he will be allowed to leave if he gives it his all until the end of the campaign.
“That is not true. I would never do that,” he said.
“It would be very negative. If you do that could you imagine the last two months for that player?
“He would never put a leg in or never challenge for the ball.”
The defender has also been linked with a move to rivals Manchester United, but all the interested parties have been quoted around the £40million region for his services.
He has already featured in 18 league games so far this season and despite his hefty price tag, both interested clubs could still make another attempt to acquire his signature in the summer.
