Everton boss wants to make young guns his core this season

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has expressed his excitement at getting back to training with his young Toffees stars this week, as reported by footyscene.

Martinez has been in Brazil working for a number of media outlets but is now back on Merseyside and wants to begin to build his Everton team around young guns such as Ross Barkley and John Stones.

Both Barkley and Stones enjoyed some international football for England this summer and now Martinez is keen to make them the main men at Goodison Park, to help them progress for their country.

Manchester City are reportedly set to make a big money move for Barkley but the Toffees are set to repel any interest in their hottest prospect since Wayne Rooney.

“I have signed my contract at Everton – it’s an exciting project.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to work with young players like Ross Barkley and John Stones.

“I want to see them after their experience with England this summer.
