Everton manager Roberto Martinez revealed that the injury to Kevin Mirallas is seen as blow in what was a convincing 3-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers with the midfielder having to be stretchered off.
The 27-year-old, who also got on the score sheet, had to be forced off in the final stages of the match following a tackle from Jordon Mutch and is now suspected to have damaged his left ankle.
Martinez highlighted the injury as a blow in light of their victory and also admitted that he was left reeling when he saw his attacker being taken off so close to the final whistle.
“The injury to Kevin is the real negative from today,” Martinez told Sky Sports.
“He got a really bad knock to his ankle and he will have a scan in the morning to see the extent of the injury. It was a real disappointment to see him carried off at the end.”
The Belgium international has now scored five goals in 12 appearances this season while his manager will now have to play the waiting game over the extent and seriousness of the injury.
