Canales has won 4 caps for the Spanish Under-21 side. Despite scoring 2 goals in the qualifying campaign the 20-year old was unfortunate to miss out on the final squad for the tournament in Denmark.
The former Racing Santander player moved to Real last summer for €6 million but only managed 15 appearances last season. However, he does feature in manager Jose Mourinho’s plans and now it seems the Portuguese could allow the youngster to leave on loan to play some regular football.
Everton manager David Moyes tried to sign the player on a permanent basis before he moved to Real. With the Madrid side reluctant to loan Canales to another Spanish team he could move to Goodison Park for the season. However, Wolfsburg are also keen on a temporary switch for the player.
Villarreal have reportedly moved to sign Canales in a permanent deal but Real’s preference at this stage is for a loan switch. This could work in David Moyes’s favour as he is keen to add some creativity to the Everton midfield but is reportedly on a very tight budget.
