Manchester United last night submitted the £40million double bid that the Toffees were after for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines leaving Martinez with a sizable hole in his side, but also a sizable budget to fill that hole.
Wigan midfielder James McCarthy has been lined up as Fellaini’s replacement this week with discussions already underway between Martinez and his former employer Dave Whelan over a £15million move.
Chelsea left back Ryan Bertrand is the Toffees’ preferred option at left back with his game time at Stamford Bridge non-existent at present.
The West London club may allow Bertrand to leave on loan but would want in excess of £7million for the permanent transfer.
Finally, Martinez is set to make a £10million bid for highly rated Holland centre back Martin’s Indi who would be keen to switch Feyenoord for the Premier League.
