Everton’s loan move for Chelsea ace Christian Atsu has fallen through with the Blues unwilling to let the winger sit on the bench at Goodison Park, Mirror reports.
Toffees boss Roberto Martinez was aiming to make Atsu a back-up to Kevin Mirallas and Steven Pienaar, but Chelsea are keen to let him play on a regular basis.
The Ghanian World Cup star has returned to train with Jose Mourinho’s squad before the club decide where to he’ll be playing next season.
The 22-year-old was on the verge of joining Chelsea team-mate Romelu Lukaku at Everton, but the Blues pulled out after finding out Atsu was considered only as a back-up.
As Everton’s interest waned, Chelsea also added a January recall clause in order to bring him back to Stamford Bridge if he was getting the necessary minutes.
But it now seems Atsu will not be joining the Merseysiders, with Mourinho adamant that the former Porto ace plays consistently in the upcoming season.
Several clubs are now therefore looking to make a swoop for the attacker, with West Ham, Aston Villa, and Celtic all linked with the player.
