Everton priced out of move

Everton have been forced to look elsewhere for a new striker as out of contract Hugo Rodallega demanded a £70,000 a week wage, reports The Daily Star.

The former Wigan man is set to complete a move to Fulham later on this week, as Martin Jol’s side could afford the wages the Colombian was after.

David Moyes was keen on Rodallega, who proved himself on the Premier League scene after 4 years at the DW Stadium, but his wage demands could not be met by the Goodison Park club.

The Toffees have already signed Steven Naismith from Rangers, and are looking to bring in yet another striker following the prolific form of January signing Nikica Jelavic.

The move for another striker comes just days after reserve team striker Joao Silva moved to Levski Sofia for an undisclosed fee.

Everton are considered to be eager to slash their wage bill this summer, as high earning players such as Joseph Yobo and Victor Anichebe are set to be shown the door by the Merseyside club.

Therefore, a move for high earning Colombian Rodallega would not add up, and the fact he only managed two goals in the top flight last season suggests he is not worth breaking the wage structure for.
