Everton look to have been boosted ahead of their Capital One Cup semi-final second leg against Manchester City as injured duo Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy move closer to a return, Daily Star reports.
The Toffees managed to edge out their opponents at home 2-1 in the first leg, but will face City away at the Etihad in their efforts to secure a spot in the final.
Coleman picked up a knock during the first leg, while McCarthy only managed to make one appearance in the past eight weeks due to a groin problem.
However, manager Roberto Martinez has come out to reveal that the pair are close to making a comeback, and could be in contention for the second leg of the fixture on January 27th.
“James McCarthy and Seamus Coleman are both progressing really well and I expect those two to be back in the squad after this full week,” he said.
The two players are unlikely to be called up for the upcoming Premier League clash against Swansea City at the weekend with Martinez unlikely to risk their progress to full fitness.
