Everton step up chase for Spartak Moscow ace

Aiden McGeady (Spartak Moscow)

Everton boss Roberto Martinez is preparing a January move for Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady, according to the Daily Mail.

McGeady was involved in a dressing room bust up with Spartak boss Valery Karpin last weekend and has been put on the transfer list by the underachieving Russians.

The former Celtic star is now longing for a move to the Premier League and Everton are at the front of the queue to snap up the pacey winger who was a target of Martinez’s when he was at Wigan.

It appears that the Republic of Ireland international may have played his last game in Russia and Spartak are unlikely to get back the £9.5million that they paid for him back in the summer of 2010.

McGeady has been accused of being lazy and having a bad attitude by Karpin just weeks after new Ireland manager Martin O’Neill said the exact opposite to that.

Spartak have not won a trophy since the winger joined three years ago but McGeady has impressed in his time in Russia.
