Everton target Man United flop to fill in for injured Baines

Everton are looking to sign Manchester United flop Alexander Buttner on loan to replace Leighton Baines, who is set to undergo ankle surgery, Daily Mail reports.

The injury to Baines has left Toffees boss Roberto Martinez scrambling to find some adequate cover for the first half of the season, with the England international left-back set to be out of action for up to 14 weeks.

Martinez has therefore targeted Buttner to fill in for Baines, and are prepared to bring the 26-year-old Dynamo Moscow star to Goodison Park on loan.

Buttner spent two seasons with United after arriving from Vitesse Arnhem in 2012, however he struggled for regular playing time and left to Dynamo in the summer of 2014.

During Everton’s season opener against Watford, young defender Brendan Galloway was forced to fill into Baines’ position as second-choice Bryan Oviedo edges closed to full fitness.
